So we've learned that in order for a supplement to work properly, its minerals must be the correct particle size, water-soluble, and ionic. What happens when our supplement HAS all of these things?

Below is a list of minerals, and what each mineral does for the body:

Boron - Aids in the absorption of calcium and magnesium.

Calcium - Essential for human life, needed by all tissues in the body, and is crucial for nerve conduction, muscle contraction, and heartbeat. Combines with phosphorus to help provide strength for bones. Performs numerous vital functions in the body, including fat and protein digestion, energy production, nerve transmission, and assists in the absorption of other nutrients.

Chromium - Essential to the metabolism of lipids, glucose, and insulin. Helps the body maintain healthy energy levels and normal mental alertness. Helps regulate sugar levels in the body, and aids in toe breakdown and distribution of protein and carbohydrates so the body can use those fuels efficiently.

Copper – Promotes normal cardiovascular health and circulation, and formation and maintenance of strong bones. Helps to maintain the structural integrity of cell membranes, allowing for normal body functioning. Involved in the production of collagen (the protein responsible for the structural integrity of bone, cartilage, skin, and tendon), elastin (the protein that is mainly responsible for the elastic properties of blood vessels and skin) and hemoglobin (the carrier of oxygen in the blood.

Germanium – Implicated in the promotion of healthy oxygen flow to tissues and normal functioning immune cells. Improved oxygen flow to tissues boosts circulation, which improves stamina and endurance.

Iodine – Crucial for the health of they thyroid gland. Essential for the production of 2 key hormones in the body.

Magnesium – Essential for every major biological process. Vital for making sure that calcium is used properly by the body. Necessary for the metabolism of glucose, production of cellular energy, and the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins. Magnesium’s role in cellular reproduction is key in maintaining healthy levels of immune-related cells during an immune challenge.

Manganese – Possesses antioxidant properties and is involved in protein, fat, and energy metabolism. Essential part of biochemical reactions that affect bone, cartilage, brain function, and energy.

Phosphorus – Helps to maintain the body's pH. Body’s source for phosphate. Phosphate works in the soft tissues where it helps create and manage energy, synthesize protein, fat, and carbohydrates, and helps contract muscles, including the beating heart.

Potassium - Necessary for adequate muscle contraction and rapid transmission of nerve impulses through the body. Helps widen the blood vessels during exercise, thereby increasing blood flow to help carry away heat.

Selenium - Required by the body in small quantities. Potent antioxidant. Necessary for proper calcium and vitamin C metabolism, and helps convert blood sugar into energy.

Sulfer - Necessary for insulin production. Vital for the growth of hair and nails. May play a large role in maintaining the health of tissues and organs in the body. Essential component of three vitamins: biotin, pantothenic acid, and thiamin (vitamin B1). Both biotin and thiamin play an important role in energy metabolism.

Vanadium - Researchers have suggested that it may promote healthy efficiency of insulin action inside of cells, and may play a role in maintaining healthy glucose and lipid metabolism.

Zinc - Essential in the development and continuous normal functioning of the central nervous system. Critical for the formation and activity of many enzymes and cells that play roles in the maintenance of a healthy immune system. Required for the production of the nucleic acids, RNA and DNA, the basic building blocks of the body.

Minerals have many benefits, but they must be in the right form to be used efficiently by our bodies.
